ABOUT THE FARM

About the Farm

Ananda Valley Farm is nestled amongst hills and canyons on 67 acres of rich farmland in Half Moon Bay, and two miles from the beach. This land has been lovingly farmed for more than 100 years with water available year-round from a mountain-top spring that Native Americans have long considered sacred.

Farmed by Loving Hands and Hearts

Ananda Valley Farm is a branch of Ananda Sangha community in Palo Alto, CA. At Ananda, we practice the Yoga & Meditation teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda as taught by his direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda.

Ananda Valley Farm provides a beautiful setting to bring the high ideals of simple-living and high-thinking into practice by daily meditation and joyful, selfless service.

Yoga Farming Practices

Our managers and many of our volunteers are long-time meditators. There is a special joy in farming consciously, and the plants respond to the kindness and sensitivity of the farmers who work with them. Our farming practices revolve around learning how to work with Nature in expansive and harmonious ways.

Caring For Our Land

We continuously strive to improve our soil; growing a wide selection of crops, to create a diverse plant community, and utilising compost and manure from our animals as a natural fertiliser.

Respecting the Animals

Our animals enjoy the best possible welfare. We ensure access to lots of space, both inside and outside, which helps them express natural behaviours, and live happy and contented lives.

Supporting Our Communities

We are devoted to creating a haven of peace and harmony in nature that can serve the greater community and anyone who is drawn to receive from it.
